What Gets Redirected From Lightyear?

Where to add a redirect?

If your Lightyear account receives an email that does not contain an invoice, we will forward the email to this address so that you don't lose anything. It's best to set this as an email account that you check regularly, just to make sure you don't miss anything.

This can be set up in your Company Settings.

What does Lightyear Redirect?

Lightyear accepts the following file formats (under 10mb)
  1. PDF
  2. JPEG
  3. JPG
  4. PNG
  5. TIFF
Other file formats, and anything over 10mb, will be sent to your redirect email address.

What does the Redirect Email look like?

We have 2 different types of redirect emails, one for files under 5mb, and one for files over 5mb.

Redirects under 5mb will receive an email that contains the original email sender, subject, the first 200 words from the email body and a brief description of the issue. The original email attachment will also be sent. This will look similar to this email format:

If, for example, the original email contains 10 files, 9 of which are valid and 1 invalid, you will receive a redirect confirming the 9 were received to Lightyear, and the extra 1 file which was not. This will look similar to this email format:

Types of Redirect Errors

Email Issues:

  1. 'The email does not contain any valid attachments'
  2. 'Some attachments could not be processed'
  3. 'The email was sent to multiple Lightyear companies'
  4. 'An unexpected error occurred while processing the email'
  5. 'The email was identified as containing a virus'
  6. 'The email was identified as being spam'

Attachment Issues:

  1. 'Valid attachment' - this attachment is valid and we have processed it
  2. 'Probable logo' - looking at the dimensions we think this is a logo
  3. 'Too big' - the attachment is larger than 10MB
  4. 'Unexpected error processing attachment' - something unexpected happened; a bug should be reported and fixed
  5. 'Could not determine content type' - unknown file type
  6. 'Unsupported content type' - a file type that we do not support
NOTE: Emails are retained for 7 days. If the file is not downloaded, you will need to contact the supplier to have them re-send this.
